The Beach

Bring your own picnic!

You can also bring a BBQ, blankets, chairs or even order takeaway to the beach.

We're sure this doesn't need saying, but please tidy up after yourselves when you leave the beach.  There are plenty of bins around. Our ethos is we each take at least 5 pieces of plastic litter to the bin whenever we visit a beach and would love for you to do that too so that between us we leave the beach significantly cleaner then we found it!

Children

Our girls will of course be celebrating with us and your children are completely welcome too!

We understand that things can get a little long at the ceremony so Debbie, who provides Sunday morning activities for smalls at the church will be providing some wedding themed things to do.

At the afternoon tea, there will be some seats available near parents on the boring tables but also a whole room with afternoon tea, plus jelly, ice cream and a range of sprinkles. Smaller people are free to pop in and out of here between friends - old and new and parents. We also have some fantastic older smaller people (who are nearly grown ups but are still cool enough to want ice cream) who will be around if small people need anything.

Once we move to the beach, there will be parachute games and general fun. If the tide is in it's a lovely shallow area with no currents for safe paddling / swimming so you may want to bring swimming things and towels.

Please let us know names and ages of your children who are coming so we can make sure there is enough ice cream and suitable activities. Click here to RSVP.

Gifts

We have been together for 22 years and owned a house together for 11 of them, we don't need any toasters, kettles, etc.! All we would ask for is your company on our exciting day, and we know that that's no small ask by the time you've driven across the country, found accommodation etc. (Though do enjoy spending some time in Swansea, it's a lovely place to be!)

Bakers, crocheters, organizers of various things - you have already gifted us your time, talent and energy, let alone flowers /tiaras/gifts for the girls/cake/an amazing website/ favours/a hen party/snacks to fuel the planning/etc.

If anyone really really does feel that you want to contribute something there will be a donations box at the afternoon tea, and thank you. We would like to do some exciting day trips with the girls to have lots of fun, and build precious memories, for example:

  • A boat trip to hopefully see dolphins, seals and jellyfish

  • A fossil hunt/rock pool explore at Charmouth (Both girls are fans of Mary Anning, the famous fossil hunter)

  • A hot air balloon flight

These are just some ideas the girls have been keen on for a while, we're pretty much open to anything - although they're more likely to enjoy an adventure than a sit down sort of something, they do also love museums.

Days out are great and lots of fun, but my (Ruth's) long-term prognosis isn't looking great without a wonderful combination of science and miracle. We have to ultimately brace ourselves for a future without her. We are overwhelmed by everyone's offers of help and really appreciate it, but it's still going to be hard for Aaron to work and to pay off a two-person mortgage with half a working person.

If you would prefer to make a sensible contribution towards our house, or sending the girls to university, rather than a frivolous one towards a day out, then just mark on your envelope and we will ensure that we use it as intended. If you would like to, you can also donate via a GoFundMe page set up on Aaron and Ruth's behalf. All money raised will be transferred to their bank account.
